Lil TJAY

 Tione Merritt is an American hip hop artist and rapper who is most well-known by his stage name"Lil TJAY.' He is a native of New York, TJAY grew up close to the place where hip hop was born. However, his exposure to the history of hip hop is limited. TJAY was an unruly child who spent much of his youth fighting and getting in trouble with other boys. He was also convicted of petty thefts. In 2016 TJAY was sentenced to serve a year at a youth detention centre located in New York for a robbery. TJAY was released in 2017 and began to frequent an recording studio. He had previously made some tracks using his personal instruments. The band recorded "Resume" in his first trip to the studio. The track was well-received by critics and led to additional tracks being released as well as an Columbia Records record deal. TJAY released his first extended play, "No Comparison", in December 2018. According to an interview with Pitchfork interview TJAY is currently making his first studio album.
