Melinda Shankar

 Melinda Leanna Shankar, a Guyanese-Canadian actor, is recognized for her role as Alli Bhandari in Season eight of Degrassi: The Next Generation. She also appears as Indira "Indie," Mehta on YTV's "How To be an Indie. Melinda was a part of the 8th Season of Degrassi in 2008 as Alli Bhandari. She is a confident high school student who Melinda continues to play. Aislinn, who plays Clare Edwards, on Degrassi, and Disney Channel's Jennifer Stone, co-starred with her in "Harriet the Spy" which was an Disney Channel Original Movie. Reshma played the lead role in the independent film "Festival of Lights. Melinda is a black belt in karate, and she enjoys playing hockey. She is good friends with all of her Degrassi co-stars. She has also confirmed that she would take time off of Degrassi to film 'How to Be Indie', but she'll be back in the near future. She has stated that she is friendly with everyone on her cast and is in close contact with Scott Paterson, Samantha Munro, Luke Bilyk, Munro Chambers, Alicia Josipovic, Jessica Tyler and Aislinn Paul who is her favorite pal on the show.
