 Singer and actress Ann-Margret was one of the most famous sex symbols and actresses in the 1960s and beyond. She continued her career through the following decades and through the 21st century.Ann-Margret was born Ann-Margret Olsson Valsjobyn, Jamtland County, Sweden, to Anna Regina (Aronsson) and Carl Gustav Olsson, who worked for an electrical company. When she was six she moved to America. She was a student at Northwestern University and left for Las Vegas to pursue a career as a singer. Ann-Margret was discovered through George Burns and soon afterward she was signed to a record contract at RCA and a film contract at 20th Century Fox. In 1961, her song "I Just Don't Get It" charted in the Top 20 of the Billboard Hot 100 Charts. Bette Davis was Bette's daughter in Frank Capra’s Pocketful of Miracles (1961) the film that marked her debut in acting. She appeared in the musical State Fair (1962) a year later , before making her debut in 1963. She was an Top 10 Box Office star, teen idol, and Golden Globe nominated actress with Viva Las Vegas (1964) which was a duet with Elvis Presley. In Hollywood she was the most sought-after young movie star. She earned the nickname "sex kitten" over the years. Her subsequent films were frequently dismissed by critics (Bus Riley's Back in Town (1965) and The Swinger (1966)), sometimes praised (The Cincinnati Kid (1965)). Because of her beautiful looks, she couldn't avoid being portrayed as a type. By the late 1960s,
