Kate Hudson is a talented actor, most famous for her character Penny Lane in the Hollywood movie Almost Famous which earned her an Academy Award nomination. Born into a family of film stars and actors, she was destined for limelight at an early age. Her mother Goldie Hawn is an acclaimed film actor, and her father Bill Hudson is a comedian. She loved performing from a young age and would take any chance to sing and dance on the stage. Her parents ensured she received dance classes, and she was also trained at the Santa Monica Playhouse as a young child. In 1996, she was offered a role on the TV drama Party of Five. She was accepted into New York University, but Kate Hudson was more interested in seeking a job in show business than getting a degree. After acting in some minor films, she landed the role that was to prove to be the most significant role in her career. She was cast as Penny Lane in the comedy drama film Almost Famous. The film did not do well at the box-office however, it did receive positive reviews from critics. It established Kate as an actor in the American film industry.
