Melinda Leanna Shankar is a Canadian-Canadian actor from Guyanese who is famous for playing Alli Bhandari at the start of Season 8 of Degrassi: The Next Generation and Indira "Indie" Mehta on YTV series, 'How to be Indie.' Melinda made her starring mark in 2008 during the 8th season of Degrassi as Alli Bhandari an assertive young woman at the high school level, which she continues to portray.
