Dennis Quaid is an American actor and musician who is famous for his dramatic and comedic roles in films and television. He is the brother of actor Randy Quaid. He has appeared in many films such as 'Breaking away, The Rookie, Vantage Point The Parent Trap' and 'Far From Heaven. Quaid has also appeared on various TV shows, the most prominent one is the period drama series "Vegas," for which he was also the executive producer. As an artist, Quaid is in the band 'The Sharks'. He is well-known for writing and singing the song "Closer to You" in the 1987 movie "The Big Easy". He was born to William Rudy Quaid, an electrician as well as Juanita B. "Nita" Quaid, a real estate agent. The actor grew up in Houston, Texas alongside his brother Randy. He then went to Bellaire High School where he studied dance and Mandarin Chinese. Quaid later enrolled at the University of Houston but dropped out of the university before graduating. Extremely benevolent, he has donated money to charities numerous times. He has been involved in the New Orleans-based International Hospital for Children. In the 90s the actor took many trips to Central America to help develop medical clinics and to transport sick kids back to the USA for treatment.
