Miley Ray Cyrus was born Destiny Hope Cyrus on November 23rd, 1992 in Franklin, Tennessee and raised in Thompson's Station, Tennessee to Tish Cyrus & Billy Ray Cyrus. There are five siblings in her family - two half-brothers and a half-sister and a younger brother and sister. Her parents named her because they believed that she would be able to attain greatness. Miley was her childhood nickname Smiley. It was because of her positive personality. Her paternal grandfather, Ron Cyrus, was a Democratic politician. Cyrus began her education at Heritage Elementary School in Tennessee. When she turned eight her family relocated to Toronto, Canada, where Cyrus her father Billy Ray took a role in the TV series Doc (2001). At the time, that Cyrus decided she wanted to act too. Her first appearance was with her father in Doc (2001). She also scored a small role in Tim Burton's Big Fish (2003).In 2005, Cyrus was chosen to play the lead in the Disney series Hannah Montana (2006), about a teen leading two lives as a pop-star. Her father was also in the show with her. The performance was a huge success and hit records as well as sell-out shows and merchandising deals soon followed. Cyrus was a teenager star.
