Norm MacDonald

 MacDonald was born Norman Gene MacDonald in Quebec City, Quebec on October 17 1959. He started his career in stand-up comedy. MacDonald started his stand-up comedy career by writing for The Dennis Miller Show (1992), and Roseanne (1988). In working on Roseanne (1988) and then for The Dennis Miller Show (1992), he was discovered by Lorne Michaels, who was a fan of the stand-up comedy of Norm and offered him a job as a host on Saturday Night Live (1975).MacDonald became widely popular when he became the Weekend Update anchor with his signature phrase, "And now the fake news". He was on the air from September 24, 1994 to the 13th of December 1997, after which he was dismissed by Don Ohlmeyer, president of NBC on the west coast. His last weekend update was on December 13, 1997 and he officially left the program in March of 1998. The film, Dirty Work (1998) was the first project he worked on in the summer of 1997, came out 2 months after. In March 1999, his show, called Norm (1999), came out on ABC and ran for a three-season run. He also starred opposite Dave Chappelle in Screwed (2000).
