American actor and producer Sigourney Weaver is an American actress and producer. Her film debut came in 1977, playing a small role, but she went to make her mark in Hollywood quickly. In only two years she was offered her first lead role as 'Ellen Ripley' in the cult film "Alien.' Weaver's portrayal of an action heroine was much appreciated and she reprised her role as 'Ripley' on the sequels to the film and 'Aliens' the third installment, 'Alien 3', and "Alien: Resurrection.' Her extraordinary performance brought her an Academy Award nomination for Best Actress. Her performance in the "Alien" franchise and other sci-fi films has earned her a nomination for the Academy Award for "Best Actress". She is often called "the Sci-Fi queen" in Hollywood. She has also been praised for her roles in films like 'Ghostbusters' Ghostbusters II' and "Avatar.' Alongside sci-fi, she has also appeared in movies like "The Year of Living Dangerously,"Deal of the Century and 'Half Moon Street and 'Gorillas in the Mist,' 'Working Girl,' 'The Cabin in the Woods and A Monster Calls.' Weaver has been recognized with many nominations and awards throughout the years for her performances.
