DC Young Fly was born in Adamsville, a west Atlanta neighborhood of Atlanta's west. He was involved in drugs from the age of 13. His alias is actually an acronym for the name "Da Crew" which was the name the group of friends he was with used to call themselves when they were younger. When he turned fourteen years old, of age, his parents divorced. He attended Benjamin E. Mays High School in Atlanta Although his status was viewed as to be a clown in the eyes of his teachers, he was popular and well-liked by his fellow students and was renowned for his hilarious humor. Unfortunately, DC suffered two family tragic events at the age of just a few years - firstly his brother was murdered in 2011, and two years later his father passed away due to Alzheimer's disease for many years. In the wake of his brother's death, DC got the famous tattoo of his forehead and began his journey as a rapper in honor of his brother
