DC Young Fly was born in Adamsville which is a west Atlanta neighborhood in west Atlanta. He was involved with drug-related activities as early as the age of 13 years old. His alias is actually an abbreviation for the name "Da Crew" that was the name his friends and close associates were known as while they were young. At the age of fourteen, old and his parents divorced, he was born. He attended Benjamin E. Mays High School in Atlanta Although his status was viewed as to be a clown in the eyes of his teachers, he was a hit and well-liked by his fellow students and was renowned for his hilarious antics. DC was a victim of two family tragedies during his early years. His brother was killed in the year 2011 and his father, who was suffering from Alzheimer's for a number of years, passed away just two years later. DC was motivated to become a rapper after his brother's passing.
