Anderson Hays Cooper (born June 3, 1967)[1] is an American broadcast journalist and political analyst from the Vanderbilt family. Anderson Cooper 360deg is his primary news anchor. In addition to his duties at CNN, Cooper serves as a correspondent for 60 Minutes on CBS News. Cooper graduated from Yale University in 1989 with an undergraduate degree in arts and sciences. He began his travels across the globe, capturing footage of war-torn areas in the name of Channel One News. Cooper was employed by ABC News as a correspondent in 1995, but he soon took more jobs throughout the network, including a short time as a co-anchor as well as a reality game show host and the morning talk show's fill-in host.In 2001, Cooper joined CNN, which gave him his own show, Anderson Cooper 360deg, in 2003; he has remained the show's host since. Cooper gained a following for his reporting on the ground of breaking news events with his coverage of the devastating hurricane Katrina causing his popularity to increase dramatically. Cooper was awarded the National Order of Honour and Merit for his reporting of Haiti's 2010 earthquake. It is the highest honour that is bestowed by the Haitian government. From September 2011 until May 2013, he served as the host of his own daytime talk show syndicated by his own network, Anderson Live.
