 Ashanti Shequoiya Douglas is an American artist, singer, dancer, record producer and actress. The Grammy award winner rose to notoriety in the year 2000 through her hit album "Ashanti" as well as the hit single "Foolish". The album was a massive success and was sold over five million copies. Ashanti's first album sales were listed in the Guinness Book of World Records. She was part of the glamor industry from at an early age and also worked in music videos and television commercials however, she gained fame through her modern R&B debut album. She's also a talented writer. Her song "Ain’t it Funny (Murder Remix)," which she composed and sang for Jennifer Lopez, reached the number one spot on the Billboard top 100. Ashanti was also awarded the title of "Princess of Hip Hop & R&B" by her own company. She received eight Billboard awards along with two American Music Awards for the tremendous success of her album. Her role as an actor in 'Bride and prejudice' (2004), 'About Time' (2013) are worth mentioning.
