At the age of nine Beyonce formed the singing-rapping girl group Destiny's Child (originally called Girl's Tyme) in 1990 , along with childhood friends. The group was eliminated from the Star Search talent competition in 1992. Three years later, the group was dropped by Columbia before the release of an album. The group's fortunes were turned around with the signing of a Columbia recording contract and then an album with the same name that produced the smash hit single "No, No, No Part 2." Their follow-up album, The Writing's on the Wall (1999), earned the group two Grammy Awards and sold more than eight million copies across the United States. Survivor (2001), their third album, was their most popular album in the Billboard 200 charts. Eventually, the group split up to pursue their own projects. Beyonce used her songwriting talents to write her debut solo album Dangerously in Love (2003). The album premiered to great reviews and was helped by the infectious single "Crazy in Love" which was a collaboration with rapper Jay-Z the album was a top chart in the world. In 2004 Beyonce won five Grammy Awards, including best contemporary R&B album and most outstanding female R&B vocal performance.
