Bindi Sue Irwin was born on July 24 1998, to parents Terri and Steve Irwin, nature conservationist and star of the popular Crocodile Hunter series. Young Bindi was raised in the grounds of the Australia Zoo, joining zoo staff members in their day-to-day duties as an infant girl. Bindi was home-schooled so that she could spend time with her loved ones and family members. Because of her father's work in the field of television, Bindi made her first broadcast appearances at the age of two years old, and was included in shows like The Crocodile Hunter Diaries, and 2002's film The Wiggles: Wiggly Safari. Bindi was the center of a media frenzy when her father Steve was killed in the attack of a stingray during a shoot in 2006. At the age of eight years old, Bindi was able to become the family spokespersonand giving interviews with important TV personalities like David Letterman, Ellen DeGeneres and Larry King. With several film projects being developed prior to the loss of her father, Bindi's tragic loss was the catalyst for her first major venture into the film industry. Bindi Kidfitness was released on CD and DVD in 2006 and was an immediate hit. She was named Australia's Ambassador of Tourism with a full touring schedule with live appearances in various cities around the world to promote Australian eco-tourism. Also to that, a Discovery Kids television network program called Bindi the Jungle Girl went into production shortly afterward. The series, which will run for 26 episodes, will premiere in the fall 2007.
