Joseph Jason Namakaeha Momoa was born on August 1, 1979 in Honolulu, Hawaii. Coni Momoa (a photographer) and Joseph Momoa (a painter) are his parents. His father is Native Hawaiian and Samoan, while his mother is from Iowa and has German, Irish and Native American heritage. Jason was raised by his mother in Norwalk (Iowa). After high school, he moved to Hawaii and was able to land the lead role the competition of thousands of hopefuls for the TV series Baywatch (1989) (known as "Baywatch Hawaii" in its 10th season). He then spent the following years traveling the globe after the show's conclusion. Then, in 2001, he relocating to Los Angeles, where he continued to pursue an acting career. After the TV series North Shore (2004) ended He was cast in 2004 as "Ronon" Dex in the main character of the TV show Stargate: Atlantis (2004). This series gained an avid following. He played the Dothraki king in Game of Thrones (2011) the Emmy-nominated HBO series.
