Joseph C. Montana Jr. was conceived in New Eagle, Pennsylvania on June 11, 1956. Joe Montana Sr. was his father, and Theresa was his mother. They were both from Monongahela, Pennsylvania. Joe loved playing sports. Every night as a child, he would be waiting for his father to return home, so they could play catch with a football or a baseball and practice throwing the balls with tires for precision. Joe loved to play basketball with his buddies and work on his skills. The Montanas had an basketball court in their backyard. He was an avid sportsman and was vice-president of his class during his senior year. From the middle of his junior season he was also the starting quarterback on the team football. The team attracted the attention of major colleges across the country due to his talent. In 1974, he was featured in Parade Magazine as an All-American quarterback
