Maggie Lawson was born and was raised in Louisville, Kentucky. She began appearing in dinner theatre and community productions when she was eight. When she was 10, she got an on-air job as a commercialist at the Louisville TV station. This led to a six-year steady role as a TV personality reporting on news for her peers. She relocated to Los Angeles at 17 for her first TV appearance, a recurring part in the film Unhappily Ever After (1995). She completed her senior year at high school by taking a correspondence course. In 2000, she was a star in two roles, as a model and a nerdy student in the movie The Wonderful World of Disney: Model Behavior (2000). In her free time, she likes to sing and writing songs.
