Marilyn Monroe

 Marilyn Monroe (1926-1962). Marilyn Monroe was a model and actress, a singer and was one of the most well-known women in the 20th century. Monroe is a symbol of female beauty and fame. Her mother, Norma Jeane Mortenson (born June 1926) is widely considered as one the most influential figures in American popular culture. Her mother was Gladys Pearl Baker (nee Monroe, 1902-84) Her father was unknown and she was baptised as Norma Jeane Baker. Her mother Gladys was in a tumultuous mental state and struggled to raise her children. For the first six years of her life, Marilyn was raised by her foster parents Albert and Ida Bolender in the town of Hawthorne, California. Marilyn's mother was trying to get her away however she suffered a mental breakdown. Marilyn was then moved between orphanages and foster homes. The traumatic childhood left her timid and reserved.
