Natalie Portman is the only actress born in the 80s to have been awarded the Academy Award for Best Actress (for Black Swan (2010)).Natalie was born Natalie Hershlag on June 9 of 1981 in Jerusalem, Israel. She is the sole child of Avner Hershlag an Israeli doctor as well as Shelley Stevens, an American-born artist (from Cincinnati, Ohio) who is also Natalie's agent. Both of her parents are of Ashkenazi Jewish descent. Natalie's family fled Israel and moved to Washington, D.C. when she was just a few years old. Her family moved several times before they settled in New York. She still lives there today. She graduated with honors and her academic successes led her to enroll at Harvard University. At 11 years of age, she was discovered by a pizza store agent. At the age of 11, she was encouraged to explore a career as model, but she decided she wanted to become an actor. While she appeared in numerous live performances, her film debut was made in Leon: The Professional (1994) which was also known as "Leon". Natalie was a part of Heat (1995) Gorgeous Girls(1996) and Mars Attacks! (1996).
