Ozzy Osbourne

 Ozzy Osbourne, byname of John Michael Osbourne, (born December 3, 1948, Birmingham, England), British musician who gained an admirer base as the lead vocalist of the heavy metal group Black Sabbath before embarking on a successful solo careeRaised in a working-class family, Osbourne dropped out of school at 15 and held several jobs that were not well-paid. Osbourne also was involved in petty criminality and was sentenced to 2 months of imprisonment for burglary around the age of 17. He sang in several local rock bands and eventually created the rock group Earth together with Tony Iommi. In order to avoid being confused with a different band of the same name the group changed its name to Black Sabbath, a reference to an older Boris Karloff movie. The band's gritty, dark style was influenced by blues however it was it was amplified to the point where it was noticed for its references to the occult. The band's debut album named "Black Sabbath" came out in February of 1970. It quickly gained a large following in Britain as well as the United States.
