Tom Cruise

In 1976, you had told 14-year-old Franciscan seminary student Thomas Cruise Mapother IV that one day in the not too distant future he would be Tom Cruise, one of the top 100 film stars of all time, he would have likely smiled and said that his dream was to enter the priesthood. The sensitive and religious teenager born in Syracuse, New York in 1962, was bound to become one of the highest paid and sought-after actors of the screen. His parents were both from Louisville, Kentucky, and Tom is of German, Irish, and English ancestry. He was a boy who moved around throughout his childhood. By the age of 14 he had gone to 15 different schools in the U.S. Together with his mother and newlyweds, he settled down in Glen Ridge. Tom was a high school student who wanted to be priest. However, he realized he had a love for acting. He left school at 18 and headed towards New York, where he could pursue an acting career. The following fifteen years of his life have become the story of legends. His first film appearance was in Endless Love (1981), a small role that was played by him. He immediately showed an impressive appeal to male and female audiences.
