Yvonne Craig

 Yvonne Joyce Craig was born on the 16th of May 1937, in Taylorville, Illinois. Yvonne was an exciting young dancer when she was just a teenager. She was then admitted to Denham's Ballet Russe de Monte Carlo. She continued her studies until she quit the company in the year 1957 because of a dispute over casting changes. In her desire to continue dancing, she relocated to Los Angeles in 1957. She soon found herself in films. Yvonne was initially cast in minor roles in movies like Gidget (1959), and The Gene Krupa Story (59). After that, her film career just bumped along. Since Yvonne was in love with Elvis Presley at the time, she had an appearance in two Elvis films: It was at the World's Fair (1963) and Kissin' Cousins (1964).But her fame would come with the popular television show Batman (1966) in which she played the character of Commissioner Gordon's daughter, Barbara. The character she played was Batgirl and, as the Commissioner's daughter, she was privy to the entire saga of trouble taking place within Gotham City. Batgirl, her character Batgirl, was part of the 1967-68 seasonthat was the last season of the run of the series. She also appeared in Batman (1966) on several other television series that she was in, such as Star Trek : The Original Series (1966), and The Six Million Dollar Man ( 1974). Yvonne began working in the real estate industry following her retirement from television. Yvonne Craig, age 78 was diagnosed with breast cancer and passed away in her Pacific Palisades home in California on August 17, 2015.
