Yvonne Craig

 Yvonne Joyce Craig was conceived in Taylorville, Illinois on May 16, 1937. At the age of a teenager, Yvonne showed such promise as dancer that she was admitted to Denham's Ballet Russe de Monte Carlo. Her training progressed until she quit the company in 1957 over a disagreement on casting changes. She moved to Los Angeles hoping to continue her dance career, but soon was hired in films. At first, Yvonne had small roles in movies such as Gidget (1959) and The Gene Krupa Story (1959). Then, her film career just moved forward. Yvonne was dating at the time Elvis Presley was a part of an appearance in the Elvis movies It Happened at the World's Fair (1963) as well as Kissin' Cousins (64). However, her greatest fame came with the show that became a cult TV show Batman (1966) that aired in 1966, where she played Barbara Gordon's daughter. She was, in fact, Batgirl and she was granted all access to the Commissioner's Gotham City troubles. The season 1967-68 saw the conclusion of the show's period. Batgirl was her character. After Batman (1966), she also appeared in other television series such as Star Trek: The Original Series (1966) and The Six Million Dollar Man (1974). When her career was ending, Yvonne went into the real estate market. Yvonne Craig died at age 78, of breast cancer, at her home in Pacific Palisades, California on August 17 in 2015.
