Bindi Sue Irwin was the daughter of Terri and Steve Irwin. They are nature conservationists and stars of the Crocodile Hunter series. As a young girl, Bindi was raised on the grounds and helped the staff of the Australia Zoo in their daily duties. Bindi was educated at home, allowing her to remain close to family and the animals she loved. Thanks to her father's career in television, Bindi made her first broadcast appearances as young as two, and has been included in shows like The Crocodile Hunter Diaries, and 2002's film The Wiggles: Wiggly Safari. Bindi was at the forefront of media attention after her father Steve was killed by an attack by stingrays during a shoot in 2006. Bindi, who was eight years old, became an official spokesperson for the family and gave interviews to celebrities on TV like Ellen DeGeneres, Larry King and David Letterman. With a variety of film projects already in the works before the loss of her father, Bindi's personal loss coincided with her first forays into the world of film. Bindi Kidfitness was released on DVD and CD in 2006 and became an immediate success. The film was awarded the title of the Ambassador of Tourism for Australia, involving a busy schedule of touring and live appearances in several cities across the globe to promote Australian eco-tourism. Soon after, production started on an Discovery Kids program called Bindi the Jungle Girl. The series, which has 26 characters, is scheduled to debut in the fall of 2007.
