Dennis Quaid, an American actor and musician, is well-known for his dramatic and comedic performances on television as well as in films. He is the younger brother of popular actor Randy Quaid, he has played in a variety of films, including 'Breaking away' The Rookie' 'Vantage Point', 'The Parent Trap, as well as 'Far from Heaven'. He has been a part of a number of television shows, including the popular period drama series Vegas and was also executive producer. Quaid is a musician, and performs in the group "The Sharks". Quaid is best known for his song "Closer To You" that he composed and performed in 1987's film 'The Big Easy". He was born to William Rudy Quaid, an electrician and Juanita B. "Nita" Quaid, a real estate agent, the actor was raised in Houston, Texas alongside his brother Randy. He then went to Bellaire High School where he was a dancer as well as Mandarin Chinese. Quaid was enrolled at the University of Houston, but the school dropped him before he graduated. Extremely benevolent, he has raised funds for charities numerous times. He has been involved with the New Orleans-based International Hospital for Children. The actor has made numerous visits to Central America in the 1990s to aid in the creation of medical clinics as well as to help transport sick children to the USA.
