George Foreman, in full George Edward Foreman, (born January 10, 1949, Marshall, Texas, U.S.), American boxer who twice was the world champion in heavyweight (1973-74 and 1994-95). When Foreman returned to the title of heavyweight at the age of 45, he was the world's oldest heavyweight champion.Foreman grew up in Houston, Texas, and learned to box in a U.S. Job Corps camp in Oregon. He was awarded the gold medal for heavyweight boxing during the 1968 Olympic Games, Mexico City. On the 22nd of January 1973, Foreman, who was 6'3" (1.9 meters) tall, beat Joe Frazier in Kingston, Jamaica. He took home the professional heavyweight title. He was the winner of all 40 of his professional bouts and had a string of 24 consecutive knockouts in which he lost to Muhammad Ali in eight rounds in the "Rumble in the Jungle" in Kinshasa, Zaire (now Congo) on the 30th of October in 1974. In 1977, he retired from the ring and became an ambassador for Christ.
