Gwyneth Kate Paltrow was born in Los Angeles, the daughter of famed producer and director Bruce Paltrow and Tony Award-winning actress Blythe Danner. Her father comes from an ethnically Jewish family and her mother is mainly of German origin. Gwyneth aged 11 years old, moved with her family in Massachusetts. Her father began working in summer stock productions at the Berkshires. With the help of her parents, she got her first acting instruction. The school she attended was an all-girls Spence School in New York City and relocated to California to attend the UC Santa Barbara, majoring in Art History. Then she decided to leave, realizing that it wasn't her thing. Shout (1991) was her first film role was her first film role. She continued to appear in films for five years and included Flesh and Bone (1993), Mrs. Parker and The Vicious Circle (1994), Se7en (1995), Jefferson in Paris (1995), Moonlight and Valentino (95), and The Pallbearer (1996). Her performance in Emma Woodhouse's title role in Emma (1996) was the reason that brought her to the stage for Viola as the lead in Shakespeare in Love (1998). She was presented with the Golden Globe, Screen Actors Guild as well as the Academy Awards for Best Actress in Leading Part. Her roles include The Talented Mr. Ripley (1999), The Royal Tenenbaums (2001), Shallow Hal (2001), Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow (2004), Proof (2005), Iron Man (2008), Two Lovers (2008), and Country Strong (2010). There are two kids she has with her ex-husband, English musician Chris Martin.
