Alexandra Doig, a Toronto native, was born to Gloria and who was a Filipina mother and David who was an Irish-Scottish father. Her parents had season tickets to their local theater, and Lexa was inspired to begin acting after seeing a show of "Porgy and Bess" at the age of nine. She dropped out of high school in grade 13 and did modeling as well as commercial work. She also hosted YTV's Video & Arcade Top 10 (1991) with friend Gordon Michael Woolvett.Her first job as a professional began at 19, when she was cast opposite William Shatner and Greg Evigan in "TekWar". The actress was then cast in a variety of projects on both small and big screens as well as CI5: The New Professionals (1998), Jungleground (1995) and No Alibi (2000), prior to landing the lead role in Jason X (2001), the 10th episode of the Friday the 13th series. She was then cast as the Andromeda Ascendant, a smart artificial intelligence (AI) system. She has appeared on several shows on television such as Traders (1996) as well as Earth: Final Conflict (1997), as well as The Chris Isaak (2001). The credits in the theatre include "Arsenic and Old Lace" and "Romeo and Juliet".
