Marg Helgenberger, an established actress who plays dramatic roles, has seen her popularity steadily grow. Her achievements have been acknowledged on film, television, and stage. Her professional career was dominated by dramatic TV characters however, she has also had an impressive presence in film and feature films. Helgenberger graduated from Northwestern University with a degree in drama. She was enlisted by a talent scout be a part of Ryan's Hope (1975), in which she was a star for four seasons. She was particularly featured in films produced for the Lifetime cable network and Showtime. She received critical acclaim for In Sickness and in Health (1992), Thanks of a Grateful Nation (1998) and Perfect Murder, Perfect Town JonBenet and the city of Boulder (2000).In TV series she won an Emmy for her performance of a hard-bitten prostitute who catered to Vietnam War soldiers, in the series China Beach (1988). She was also George Clooney's love interest in an arc that spanned multiple episodes of the hugely successful television series ER (1994).In films with a feature, Helgenberger has appeared in Tootsie (1982) and Steven Spielberg's Always (1989), Species (1995) and In Good Company (2004).
