Tom Brady

Tom Brady was born on August 3, 1977 in San Mateo, California, to Galynn Patricia (Johnson) and Thomas Edward Brady, who is the owner of a business in financial planning. Brady's father is Irish and his mother is Norwegian-Swedish. He attended Junipero Serra High School. It was which is the same school that created Barry Bonds of the SF Giants. He was a student at the University of Michigan from 1995 until 1999. Brian Griese was his backup quarterback at the time the Wolverines took home the national championship in 1997. In 1998 and 1999 Brady served as a replacement for Drew Henson as the starting quarterback. He was able to post a 20-5 record, which included a 2-0 record at bowl games. He was the sixth round selection in the draft of the New England Patriots in 2000. He was the fourth-string quarterback, following Drew Bledsoe, John Friesz and Michael Bishop. In 2001, Brady was elevated to second-string quarterback, behind Bledsoe when training camp ended. The fortunes for both Brady as well as the Patriots changed forever the 23rd of September, 2001 when Bledsoe was hammered hard by New York Jet linebacker "Mo Lewis", suffering a near fatal injury. Bledsoe was replaced by Brady during the game and has served as the Patriots' quarterback every game since. Bledsoe did not manage to get back his job as the starting quarterback and Brady led the Patriots in an 11-3 win to close the 2001 regular season. He then guided the Patriots through the playoffs before an improbable 20-17 win over the St. Louis Rams, which was a 14-point favourite, in Super Bowl XXXVI. After an ordinary 2002 season
