Tom Brady

Tom Brady was born in San Mateo (California) on August 3, 1977. He is the son of Galynn Patricia (Johnson), and Thomas Edward Brady (who owns a financial planning company). Brady's father is of Irish descent , and his mother hails from Norwegian-Swedish and Polish descent. He attended Junipero Serra High School, which is the same high school which produced Barry Bonds of SF Giants. He attended the University of Michigan from 1995 until 1999. He was Brian Griese's backup quarterback when the Wolverines were victorious in the 1997 national championship. Brady shared the starting quarterback position with Drew Henson in 1998 and 1999, but managed to put together a 20-5 record over those two years and a 2-0 mark during bowl games. Brady was a sixth-round draft pick of the New England Patriots in 2000. He spent 2000 as a fourth string quarterback after Drew Bledsoe, John Friesz and Michael Bishop. As training camp ended, Brady was promoted to second-string quarterback. The fortunes of both Brady and the Patriots changed forever the 23rd of September, 2001 as Bledsoe was hit hard by New York Jet linebacker "Mo Lewis" and suffered a nearly life-threatening injury. Brady replaced Bledsoe during the match and has been the starting quarterback in every Patriot game as quarterback since. Bledsoe never got his job again. Brady led the Patriots to an 11-3 win in the final game of the regular season in 2001. The Patriots went on to make the playoffs thanks to a shocking 20-17 win over St. Louis Rams.
