Kevin Jerome Gilyard, popularly called his stage name Kevin Gates, is an American rapper, singer and entrepreneur. Most well-known for his hit studio album , 'Islah' which came out in 2016 as well as known for his mixtapes, such as 'Stranger than Fiction', and 'By Any Means'. He is considered to be one of the most successful contemporary artists, having released many hit singles and mixtapes over his career. Gates began his career at Dead Game Records in 2005. He was signed to the label by a local rapper. In the latter half of 2000s, Gates rose in popularity with Webster Gradney (popularly known as Webbie) and Torrence Hatch (popularly known as Boosie Bazz). In 2007, the group released their first mixtape "Pack of Da Litter". The trio released their first mixtape'Pack of Da Litter' in the year 2007. Gates is most well-known for the autobiographical themes that he incorporates into his songs. After the release of his first studio album, 'Islah', Gates became a massively popular artist.
