Ozzy Osbourne, one of the most famous metal musicians and among the most famous and popular of them all, was born in Birmingham, England as John Michael Osbourne. After graduating from school and working numerous odd jobs, he wound up in a band that was formed with Geezer Butler. The group disbanded in the mid-1980s, and Ozzy and Geezer joined Tony Iommi (including Earth) in a new group. This was called Black Sabbath and the name came from a song by the same title that appeared on their first album (released 1969/70). He released a few more albums as Sabbath despite the decline in his relationship with Tony Iommi, that, after a string of break-ups, caused him to leave or be exiled from the group in 1979. After a short period the singer began his own career. His bandmates varied from album to album, and tour to tour. He was twice sued over the death of two of his teenage fans , and was also hospitalized due to alcoholism. He declared that he would not tour again after the release of No More Tears. In 1991, on his last date he reformed briefly on stage with Black Sabbath for three songs. Ozzy was not able to take part in the tour that was so anticipated and then he resigned. The bassist Mike Inez joined Alice in Chains and Zakk Wylde started his own group, Pride and Glory. He is currently recording a new album, and he has stated that he will return to the road. The album will be released in the summer of 1995 and the tour is expected soon after. Geezer Butler who was a bass player with Ozzy during the tour of the mid to the late 80's, has announced his resignation from Sabbath. He will be performing on the new album.
